About Karen

Karen Saura, MAEd

Karen Saura is a science teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area and the founder and director of Mindful Rhythms. She has been teaching science, health, movement and mindfulness practices to individuals, groups, and students in grades K-12 for over 20 years. She holds multiple teaching credentials and has a master’s degree in education.  Karen created Mindful Rhythm Movements, a trauma informed movement-based teaching program while teaching in Bay Area public schools.

In addition to teaching science, Karen brings Mindful Rhythms, embodied movement, and dance to at risk populations.  The experience of embodied mindful movement and dance in a rehearsal or class setting allows participants to access and express deeply held emotional trauma through dance and movement. This process teaches the invaluable life skill of mindfulness and positive ways to express intense emotions through the transformational vehicle of embodied movement and dance.
